Namwon-si Selected as an Excellent Institution in the 'Local Government Proactive Administration Comprehensive Evaluation'

Namwon City in Jeonbuk was selected as an excellent institution in the ‘2022 Comprehensive Evaluation of Proactive Administration by Local Governments’ conducted by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety.

According to the city on the 2nd, this evaluation was previously conducted as one of the indicators in local government innovation evaluations, but this was the first time it was conducted independently, targeting 243 local governments nationwide.

The evaluation was conducted by an evaluation team composed of the Ministry of the Interior and Safety and private experts, who comprehensively reviewed ▲ the establishment of proactive administration promotion plans and efforts to activate the system ▲ implementation performance and perceived effectiveness.

The city established an execution plan for proactive administration and operated the Proactive Administration Support Committee effectively to build a system that protects and supports proactive administration employees, thereby producing results.

In particular, the target for selecting outstanding proactive public officials was expanded to all employees including public workers and fixed-term workers, and by providing unprecedented incentives such as monetary rewards for outstanding public officials, the interest in proactive administration within the public service community was increased, creating a proactive administrative culture that meets citizen demands.

Furthermore, for water supply pipeline improvement works and sewage pipeline maintenance projects within the same section, prior consulting was conducted to review the possibility of private contracts for overlapping sections, preventing duplicate excavation, reducing project costs, and enhancing administrative trust.

Mayor Choi Kyung-sik said, “With the city being selected as an excellent institution in the first proactive administration comprehensive evaluation conducted in 2022, we will further spread the culture of proactive administration in the public service community and continue to produce results that citizens can feel.”
