Gwangju Gwangsan Fire Station Conducts Winter Water Rescue Training

Gwangju Gwangsan Fire Station announced on the 2nd that it conducted special rescue training to strengthen the on-site response and initial recovery capabilities of rescue team members in the event of winter drowning accidents.


The training took place at the diving pool of the swimming pool at Nambu University located in Gwangsan-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City, with a total of 23 participants including the head of the 119 Disaster Response Division of Gwangsan Fire Station and the rescue team.

The training focused on the proper use of diving equipment and emergency first aid methods, emergency rescue diving mission procedures, search method training, water rescue techniques and rescue swimming methods, entry drills, and rescue methods using water rescue equipment.


Shin Saeng-gyun, head of the 119 Disaster Response Division, said, “Winter drowning accident sites have many variables that are difficult to handle, such as temperature and ice conditions,” and added, “We will do our best to enhance the capabilities of rescue team members through realistic training to protect the safety and lives of citizens.”
