On the 2nd, the People Power Party (PPP) launched a focused attack on the March extraordinary session of the National Assembly, convened at the request of the Democratic Party of Korea (DPK), calling it a 'Lee Jae-myung shield.' At the same time, they criticized Lee Jae-myung, the DPK leader, for attempting to escape crisis by putting forward his hardline supporters, the so-called 'Gaeddal.'

Jeong Jin-seok, the emergency committee chairman, said at the emergency committee meeting held at the National Assembly on the morning of the 2nd, "You cannot avoid judicial processing with new bulletproof vests called 'jukchangga' and 'Gaeddal,'" adding, "Leader Lee must accept a direct approach to the judiciary. He should heed the advice of senior DPK members to prepare for prison."

Jeong also called for Lee's resignation. He emphasized, "The bulletproof vest that politician Lee Jae-myung layered with the DPK party constitution amendment, National Assembly membership, and party leadership has become tattered," and "Many people are saying that it is only natural for him to give up the party leadership."

At the same meeting, Joo Ho-young, the PPP floor leader, said, "The DPK convened the extraordinary session starting on the 1st, a legal holiday, clearly revealing that the purpose of the session was to shield Lee Jae-myung," adding, "According to the National Assembly Act, if the 1st is a holiday, the session should start the next day, but they convened without hesitation, seemingly anxious, and not only did they fail to agree on the agenda, but they also wasted the entire day yesterday."

Joo further expressed concern, saying, "There is much worry that they might recklessly drive the National Assembly into dysfunction in the upcoming extraordinary session schedule to dilute the 'Lee Jae-myung shield,'" and added, "Since the March session has already opened and the shielding purpose has been achieved, I hope the remaining period will be used to sincerely negotiate the agenda and achieve some results. I hope there will be no reckless enforcement of laws to divert attention or actions that drag the National Assembly into ruin."

Seong Il-jong, the policy committee chairman, also pointed out, "The DPK is writing an unprecedented history in the National Assembly for the sole purpose of Lee Jae-myung as party leader," and said, "It is because of one person that livelihood issues are blocked and bipartisan cooperation is impossible."

Seong added, "The bulletproof vest of parliamentary immunity is also nearing its end. He only needs to keep his promise to abolish parliamentary immunity," and said, "Do not struggle with the precarious tightrope walk of DPK lawmakers, but stand confidently before the prosecution's door."
