Lotte Mart announced on the 2nd that it will revamp and relaunch the offline store contactless payment service ‘SCAN&GO,’ which was launched in July 2021 in collaboration with the unicorn startup Scandit.
SCAN&GO is a contactless payment service designed to enhance shopping convenience in offline stores with the slogan ‘Pay immediately without waiting in line at the checkout.’ Customers run the SCAN&GO service on the Lotte Mart mobile application ‘Lotte Mart GO,’ scan the barcode of the product they wish to purchase, make the payment, and then simply scan the payment completion QR code at the dedicated exit to leave. Currently, SCAN&GO operates in six Lotte Mart stores (Gangbyeon, Suwan, Ansan, Zetaflex, Cheomdan, Pangyo) and four Max stores (Mokpo, Sangmu, Songcheon, Changwon Jungang).
The most notable change in this revamp is the adoption of Scandit’s ‘barcode scan solution,’ which has enhanced scanning performance. This is expected to significantly improve the biggest inconvenience reported in a survey conducted last May among SCAN&GO users, namely the poor recognition of barcodes on fresh food and discounted products.
In addition, Lotte Mart improved the user interface (UI) and user experience (UX) design of SCAN&GO. Key functions were rearranged and the size of control buttons was increased to make it easier for customers to use. New features were introduced, such as applying paper coupons during barcode scanning, notifications for 1+1 promotional products, and recommendations for nearby discounted items, further enhancing shopping convenience. Furthermore, a promotion is underway until June 30, offering an additional 5% discount up to 10,000 KRW once per day for customers who pay with a Lotte Card using SCAN&GO. Details on SCAN&GO usage and benefits can be found on the Lotte Mart offline exclusive application ‘Lotte Mart GO.’
Kwon Hyewon, head of Lotte Mart’s Personalized Marketing Team, said, “We ask for much interest and use of the new SCAN&GO, which has been greatly upgraded from barcode scanning to ease of use,” adding, “We will continue to improve the service to provide a convenient and enjoyable shopping experience.”
