Two trains collided on the night of the 28th (local time) in central Greece, killing at least 16 people and injuring 85, according to local police and fire authorities.

According to AP News and others, a passenger train and a freight train collided near Larisa in Thessaly, central Greece, causing several cars to derail and at least three cars to catch fire. So far, at least 16 people have died and 85 have been injured in the accident.


Kostas Agorastos, governor of Thessaly, said in an interview with state TV, "It was a very powerful collision. It is a terrible night," adding, "It is difficult to describe the situation at the scene."
