Final Research Service Report Meeting Held on the 28th
Ulsan's Ulju-gun is establishing the first comprehensive support plan for single-person households in Ulsan.
On this day, Ulju-gun held the 'Final Report Meeting on the Research Project for the Comprehensive Support Plan for Single-Person Households' at the Gun Office Pigeon Hall, presided over by County Governor Lee Soon-geol, with about 20 attendees including related officials, Ulsan Research Institute, the chairman of the youth policy council, and the head of the Ulju-gun Family Center.
Ulju-gun discussed the comprehensive support plan for single-person households, the first of its kind in Ulsan, including promotion strategies and key projects.
This project was promoted to analyze the current status of single-person households in the county and to establish support plans by field and strategy, and the report was made based on research conducted from February to December last year.
The attendees discussed the comprehensive support plan promotion strategies and key projects based on the current status and survey results of single-person households in Ulju-gun.
According to the survey results, as of 2021, the proportion of single-person households among all households in Ulju-gun was 29.9%, higher than the Ulsan city average (29.5%). The number of households was 26,621, showing a steady increase of 30.7% compared to 20,368 households in 2017, four years earlier.
By age group, single-person households were most numerous in their 60s (20%), followed by those in their 50s (19.7%), then ▲40s (14.9%), ▲30s (13.6%), ▲20s (13%), ▲70s (11.4%), and ▲80s (7%).
Regarding the most populous residential areas by age, 35.5% of youth households aged 30 and below lived in Beomseo-eup, while 43.7% of middle-aged households in their 40s and 50s were distributed in Onsan-eup.
For elderly households aged 60 and above, 75.6% were concentrated in Duseo-myeon.
Housing types were recorded as detached houses (49.1%), apartments (37%), and row houses (5.4%) in order.
Ulju-gun plans to promote customized single-person household policies reflecting age and regional characteristics by comprehensively reviewing the survey results and support cases from the government, other regions, and other countries.
The target of single-person household policies, previously focused on low-income and elderly groups, will be expanded to include youth and middle-aged groups.
Support will be provided by establishing strategic tasks divided into areas such as ▲base and delivery system, ▲health, ▲safety, ▲housing, and ▲daily life and relationships for single-person households.
Major projects proposed include ▲operation of a single-person household support center, ▲establishment of a comprehensive portal platform for single-person households, ▲housing support projects for youth, ▲network support projects for middle-aged groups, and ▲health support projects for the elderly, which will be implemented after review by the relevant departments and establishment of execution plans.
Governor Lee Soon-geol said, “In response to the demographic trend of an increasing proportion of single-person households among all households, we will promptly establish customized support policies by eup, myeon, and household that suit the characteristics of single-person households in Ulju-gun, and do our best to make Ulju a safe and happy place to live for single-person households.”
