According to the county on the 28th, the newly built house was delivered to a multicultural family living in poor conditions due to roof leaks.
The completion ceremony was attended by Kim Seong, the county governor, Wang Yoon-chae, chairman of the Jangheung County Council, Jeong Sin-jeong, vice-chairman of the distribution committee of the Jeonnam Community Chest of Korea, Choi Young-tae, head of the Korea Land and Geospatial Informatix Corporation Jangheung-Gangjin branch, and other institutions and organizations that supported the house construction.
The family receiving the house gift had a sagging ceiling due to leaks and mold growing throughout the house.
The Hope Welfare Team of the Jangheung-gun Resident Welfare Division learned of this situation in July last year and secured 77 million won in donations by discovering external welfare foundations and sponsors through case management.
30 million won was provided through the Jeonnam Community Chest of Korea’s Housing Matching Grant Support Project, and construction costs were raised by individual sponsors, social welfare corporation networks, Jangheung-gun, and the Jangdong-myeon Community Security Council.
Since 2013, Jangheung-gun has completed 39 houses by linking welfare foundations and sponsors to low-income families living in poor housing conditions.
In particular, on this day, Kim Seong, the county governor, received the ‘Hope Award’ in recognition of the Community Chest of Korea’s contribution to spreading a culture of sharing and developing social welfare.
The recipient of the house support said, “When it rained, water leaked in, so I was always anxious and uncomfortable. Building a house was difficult, so I only had the desire, but having this new house feels like a dream. I am grateful to everyone who helped and will live diligently.”
Governor Kim Seong said, “I deeply thank the various institutions and organizations that helped with the construction. I will fully understand the meaning of the Hope Award given by the Community Chest of Korea and strive to improve the housing welfare of Jangheung residents.”
