Boseong-gun Holds '104th Anniversary of the March 1st Movement Commemoration Ceremony'

Reenactment of the March 1st Independence Movement in Boseong, the Land of Willpower

Boseong-gun, Jeollanam-do announced that it will hold the 104th anniversary 3.1 Movement commemoration event to honor the noble spirit of the patriotic ancestors who devoted their lives to the independence of the homeland on the occasion of the March 1st Movement Day.


The 104th anniversary ceremony of the Beolgyo 3.1 Manse Movement and the reenactment of the independence manse movement will be held on March 1st from 10:30 a.m. at the Chaedongseon Music Hall and Seongeun Park area in Beolgyo-eup, with about 300 participants including descendants of Beolgyo 3.1 Movement patriots, residents, and students.

The ceremony will proceed in the order of opening and national ceremony, reading of the Declaration of Independence, commemorative speech, singing of the March 1st Movement song, independence manse street parade, reenactment play of the independence manse movement, and three cheers of manse.


The event is prepared under the auspices of the 3.1 Manse Movement Commemoration Association. The principal of Beolgyo Elementary School will read the Declaration of Independence as a representative. The commemorative performance will be given by the Chaedongseon Choir, honoring the patriotic spirit of the ancestors through the singing of the "March 1st Movement Song."


The parade location, Jangjwa Market in Beolgyo-eup, is where patriots who fought for the country's independence and died in the manse movement. All participants plan to hold the Taegeukgi flag in their hands and shout "Daehan Independence Manse" as they march through the streets.


Also, at Seongeun Park, which embodies the spirit of the righteous army, visitors can watch a play reenacting the scene where independence activists and people shouting "Daehan Independence Manse" loudly at the lower market during the 3.1 Movement were arrested by Japanese military police and resisted Japanese oppression.


Kim Cheol-woo, the governor of Boseong-gun, said, "I hope many residents will participate in the ceremony with the Taegeukgi flag displayed at home so that we can inherit the noble spirit of the ancestors who resisted Japanese colonial rule for the restoration of national sovereignty and independence of the homeland."


Meanwhile, Boseong-gun has been holding the 3.1 Manse reenactment event since 2009 to honor and continue the spirit of the patriotic martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the country.
