Cheongsong-gun, Gyeongbuk Province, is implementing a support project for early retirement of old diesel vehicles and installation of emission reduction devices to create a clear and pleasant air environment.
The county plans to invest 360 million KRW this year (50% national funds, 15% provincial funds, 35% county funds) to support the early retirement of about 169 old diesel vehicles, and spend 130 million KRW (50% national funds, 15% provincial funds, 35% county funds) to support the installation of emission reduction devices on 40 vehicles.
The early retirement support targets diesel vehicles with emission grades 4 and 5 or road-use type 3 construction machinery (dump trucks, concrete mixer trucks, concrete pump trucks) that have been continuously registered in Cheongsong-gun for more than six months as of the application date. Applications can be submitted online (Emission Grade System) or at the eup/myeon offices for three weeks starting February 27.
The emission reduction device support targets diesel vehicles with emission grade 5 that have been continuously registered in Cheongsong-gun for more than six months as of the application date. Applications can be submitted online (Emission Grade System) or at the Environmental Management Division of the county office for three weeks starting March 6.
For early retirement, support can cover 50 to 100% of the vehicle’s standard value, and for emission reduction devices, 90% of the device cost is supported, with a 10% self-payment required.
County Governor Yoon Kyung-hee said, “The early retirement and emission reduction device support project will contribute to reducing air pollutants such as fine dust,” and added, “We hope vehicle owners eligible for support will actively apply for a pleasant air environment.”
