Note Hanging on the Neck of a Stray Dog Wandering the Main Road
Owner: "Not Many Days Left to Live... Please Take Good Care"
"Please raise our smart and clever Janggun well, the one who was found."
A heartbreaking story has been shared about a puppy wandering alone along a main road with a note tied to its collar. The note was left by an elderly owner who appears to be unable to live with the puppy due to health issues.
On the 27th, a dog daycare center located in Dongducheon, Gyeonggi Province, posted on Instagram, "The note hanging on the neck of the child wandering along the main road," revealing the content of the note along with a photo of the puppy.
The crumpled note contained a message presumed to be from the owner. The owner wrote, "I lived alone with our Janggun, but now I can no longer live together," and added, "I don't have much time left to live and will be going to a government-run facility."
The owner referred to the puppy as 'son' and wrote, "Please take care of my beloved son Janggun," saying "Son, wherever you are, Dad will always be by your side, so don't be sick and stay well. Goodbye. Janggun, I'm sorry. From Dad."
According to the dog daycare center, this poodle named 'Janggun' was wandering along the main road with the note tied to its neck. The center stated, "Currently, this child (Janggun) is extremely anxious, possibly due to trauma from being separated from Dad," and added, "He is a cream-colored male poodle, and we are looking for someone to become his family. We are waiting for someone to provide temporary care or adopt him."
Netizens who heard the story mostly expressed sympathy, unlike usual reactions to abandoned dog cases. Comments included, "Separation is sad for both people and animals," "As a pet owner, this is heartbreaking. Pets are like family, so it must have been painful to be separated unintentionally," and "I hope the puppy meets a good owner and becomes happy again, and I also pray for the owner's recovery."
Meanwhile, overseas, there is a growing trend of 'Pet Trust' products, which provide funds to new owners who will take care of pets in case the original owner dies or cannot care for them due to illness or other reasons.
