Travel Products Related to Sinan-gun Increase by Over 500%
Tourism-related products in Sinan-gun, Jeollanam-do are flooding the market, drawing attention as the "Tourism Capital of Jeollanam-do."
According to the county on the 28th, travel products, which were about 10 centered around Heuksan and Hongdo, have increased to over 60 online products registered on major search sites within 1 to 2 years, thanks to the popularity of the Purple Island hot place. Purple Island in Anjwa-myeon and Pilgrim's Island in Jeungdo-myeon are operated by 20 travel agencies with 25 products.
In the case of Purple Island, a representative tourist destination in Korea, the number of tourists increased from 280,000 in 2021 to 380,000 in 2022, surpassing the national average of 110,000 tourists per major tourist spot and Jeju Island's average of 230,000 tourists per major tourist spot, as recorded in the Tourism Information Knowledge System in 2021.
The Korea Association of Travel Agents selected "Beautiful Island Santiago Island Trip 2 Nights 3 Days" as an excellent travel product for foreigners in 2021, and six domestic excellent travel products for Koreans, including "1004 Islands Sinan-gun, Colorful Island Tour 5 Days."
Recently, a travel agency's luxury product priced at 1.3 million KRW, "KTX Dadohae Sinan ? Santiago Island & Jeungdo & Purple Island Trekking," was so popular that it was released with reservations up to the 4th round in December last year.
County Governor Park Woo-ryang said, "Just as the Korea Tourism Organization selected 'Docho Garden of Fantasy' as a small but promising tourist destination with growth potential nationwide, we will create attractive tourist spots on each island."
Small but promising tourist destinations are selected annually by the Korea Tourism Organization, one per region, and are nurtured into new tourist attractions through systematic consulting for travel course development and commercialization, as well as intensive promotional marketing to revitalize tourist sites.
