Jinju City in Gyeongnam announced on the 28th that the relief supplies for T?rkiye, collected until the 24th and sent to the Incheon logistics center for delivery to T?rkiye, amounted to a total of 10.2 tons.
From the 14th to the 24th, the Saemaul Leaders, Women’s Association, and Barugesalgi Movement organizations in Jinju City hosted the collection of relief supplies such as winter clothing and daily necessities from citizens and groups through reception desks in the towns and townships. The total relief supplies collected by the final day, the 24th, amounted to 10.2 tons, equivalent to 514 boxes weighing 20 kg each.
The relief supplies gathered by the citizens in one heart mostly consisted of winter clothing such as jumpers and coats to withstand the cold weather, as well as bedding items like sleeping bags and blankets, diapers, sanitary pads, cleaning supplies, heaters, gas stoves, and about 20 other types of items.
This collection was made possible through the voluntary and dedicated volunteer activities of the Saemaul Leaders, Women’s Association, and Barugesalgi Movement members in Jinju City, who efficiently operated the reception desks and carried out sorting, packaging, and shipping tasks.
Mayor Cho Gyu-il said, “We have heard news that over 50,000 people have died due to multiple strong earthquakes in T?rkiye,” and added, “We hope that the warmth of our Jinju citizens spreads to our brotherly country T?rkiye, and we express our gratitude to the citizens who collected the relief supplies and to those who volunteered on site.”
Jinju City had previously donated $100,000 USD (approximately 128 million KRW) in emergency relief funds for T?rkiye to the Korean Red Cross on the 16th.
