"Yoon Administration Blinded by Political Rival Removal and Opposition Suppression"
On the 27th, Park Hong-geun, the floor leader of the Democratic Party of Korea, once again called for vote discipline at a party meeting held just before the plenary session of the National Assembly processed the arrest motion against Lee Jae-myung, saying, "The arrest motion against Representative Lee must be decisively rejected in accordance with the spirit of the Constitution."
At the party meeting held at the National Assembly that afternoon, Floor Leader Park said, "President Yoon Seok-yeol seems obsessed only with arresting the leader of the main opposition party, who was his competitor in the presidential election, abandoning both state affairs and politics."
He continued, "This is clearly an attempt at judicial murder," and emphasized, "The Democratic Party must stop the tyranny of Yoon Seok-yeol's prosecutor dictatorship regime and prevent the regression of history."
He also once again criticized the prosecution's insufficient investigation related to First Lady Kim Geon-hee's stock price manipulation.
Floor Leader Park pointed out, "There is overwhelming evidence such as accounts under the First Lady's name being used for stock price manipulation and recorded transcripts, yet the prosecution only conducted a meaningless written investigation and refused to summon for questioning, so it is natural that the investigation is insufficient," adding, "We can no longer tolerate President Yoon and his wife's shallow lies and the prosecution's lenient investigation of those in power."
The Democratic Party plans to put weight on rejecting the arrest motion against Representative Lee at the plenary session that day, while processing about 100 bills including those related to the people's livelihood economy. The Grain Management Act, a contentious bill between the ruling and opposition parties, is also expected to be processed at the plenary session that day.
Floor Leader Park said, "We will process the Grain Management Act at today's plenary session," adding, "We will no longer concede or delay the processing of the Grain Management Act. We will definitely process it today."
