Uiryeong-gun Records Lowest Unemployment Rate in Gyeongnam for Two Consecutive Years

Average 1.7% in Gun Areas of Gyeongnam... Uiryeong at 0.6%

In Gyeongnam, Uiryeong-gun was identified as the region with the lowest unemployment rate.

According to the '2022 Second Half Regional Employment Survey Results' announced by Statistics Korea on the 21st, Uiryeong-gun's unemployment rate was 0.6%, the lowest in Gyeongnam along with Namhae-gun.

The county's unemployment rate was 1.1% lower than the average unemployment rate of 1.7% in Gyeongnam's county areas and 0.8% lower than the national average of 1.4% in county areas.

In particular, the employment rate showed positive trends, recording 69.3%, following Sancheong-gun (72.0%), Hadong-gun (71.7%), and Hapcheon-gun (69.7%).

The county is providing temporary public jobs for vulnerable employment groups such as low-income and youth populations and expanding senior job projects reflecting the characteristics of an area with a large elderly population.

The county is implementing the 'Regional Job Target Disclosure System,' which publicly announces job targets to be pursued during the local government head's term and monitors progress. Despite recent economic difficulties, it is analyzed that customized job policies and support for vulnerable employment groups have effectively contributed to the rise in employment indicators.

County Governor Oh Tae-wan said, “Expanding public-type jobs for the employment and livelihood stability of vulnerable groups is a necessary project at this time,” and added, “We will also fully support creating conditions for generating quality jobs in the private sector.”
