Seo-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City (Mayor Kim Ikang) announced on the 27th that it will conduct safety inspections of 55 public restrooms in the district starting next month to create a safe and pleasant public restroom culture.
The joint inspection team, composed of district office officials, police, and residents, will conduct pre-inspections for illegal filming and review facility improvements to ensure that residents can use the restrooms safely.
Based on the "Ordinance on the Prevention of Illegal Filming in Public Restrooms," Seo-gu will install privacy screens (Safe Screens) to prevent video recording in public restrooms.
Installation was completed at 12 locations last year, and construction for privacy screens at 43 locations is planned for this year.
A Seo-gu official stated, "We will thoroughly block risk factors related to digital sex crimes and establish a constant inspection system to secure safety starting from the public sector, realizing 'Seo-gu, the Safety First District.'"
