This event was organized to allow the president to personally encourage young people as in-person graduation ceremonies, which had been restricted due to COVID-19, resumed. This was President Yoon’s first time attending and delivering a congratulatory speech at Yonsei University’s graduation ceremony.
President Yoon explained the purpose of each reform in detail, saying, "We will steadfastly pursue labor reform to establish labor-management rule of law in industrial sites and create a fair and flexible labor market; education reform to ensure the state takes responsibility for education and care, guarantee fair and diverse educational opportunities, and cultivate advanced science and technology talents to lead the Fourth Industrial Revolution era; and pension reform to build a fair and sustainable pension system." He added, "Since innovation inevitably faces resistance from vested interests, we must have the will and courage to break the cartel of vested interests and create a freer and fairer system," urging, "I ask the youth, the future generation, to join in this innovation."
President Yoon also explained that advanced countries respect freedom and creativity, widely guarantee fair opportunities, and are in solidarity and cooperation with nations sharing universal values. In particular, he emphasized, "Freedom, human rights, and the rule of law must be the foundation of our society," and stressed, "Our country's future depends on sharing and practicing these universal values."
Finally, President Yoon said, "For young people stepping into society, our country's growth and new leap forward begin with the future generation," and added, "The government will actively support young people so they can pursue their wonderful dreams."
