20 Teams, 70 Participants Compete in Mobility Software Development Skills Contest
Hyundai Mobis announced on the 27th that it held a mobility software (SW) hackathon for university students.
With the keywords of sharing, connectivity, safety, and new experiences, future developers gathered to compete with their ideas. About 70 participants from 20 software club teams across 14 universities in Korea took part in this event.
The company stated, "As software capabilities emerge as a core competitive advantage in the future mobility industry, we created this opportunity to discover talent early and increase social interest in mobility software development."

Participating teams worked on core function development projects applicable to fully autonomous vehicles and purpose-built vehicles (PBV) for three weeks. Employees from the company’s technology research center assisted in concretizing the ideas. Three teams with outstanding results received awards.
They developed mobility voice recognition artificial intelligence (AI) programs, child school commute safety services connecting mobile applications with autonomous mobility, and more. The voice recognition AI aims to provide a safe and convenient travel experience by developing high-performance voice recognition software for noisy driving environments. The child school commute safety service was also planned to create a mobility environment in advance by connecting children and parents.
Besides this competition, the company runs various talent discovery programs such as a recruitment-linked SW academy, algorithm competitions, and a contract department at Sungkyunkwan University. More than 70% of the first cohort graduates from the recruitment-linked SW academy have been hired.
