Meritz Securities (CEO Choi Hee-moon) announced on the 27th that it has started pre-market trading for US CFDs.
With the availability of pre-market trading, trading can begin from 10:00 PM Korea Standard Time (9:00 PM during Daylight Saving Time), which is 1 hour and 30 minutes earlier, and including regular trading hours, trading is possible from 10:00 PM to 6:00 AM the next day (9:00 PM to 5:00 AM during Daylight Saving Time).
Meritz Securities’ CFD service allows investment in stocks and ETPs listed in five countries: Korea, the US, China, Hong Kong, and Japan. There is an ongoing event offering discounted non-face-to-face online commissions of 0.05% for US, Japan, and Hong Kong trades (0.10% for China) through overseas stock CFDs, applicable until the end of June.
The event is available to customers holding non-face-to-face accounts without registered managers, and during the event period, trading through HTS or the mobile app ‘Meritz SMART’ allows transactions at the reduced commission rates.
The overseas CFD service also enables leveraged investment in stocks listed in the US, China, Hong Kong, and Japan. Compared to the 22% capital gains tax applied to overseas stock investments in general accounts, a lower 11% capital gains tax on derivatives is applied, providing a more favorable investment environment for professional investors.
A Meritz Securities representative stated, “By expanding the trading hours in the US, a major market for overseas stock CFDs, professional investors will be able to trade CFD products more conveniently,” and added, “We will continue to improve the trading environment for professional investors to provide competitive services.”
