Ministry of the Interior and Safety Announces Comprehensive Evaluation Results of Local Governments' Proactive Administration

73 Outstanding Institutions Selected

A total of 73 local governments that created results by performing their duties creatively and proactively from a new perspective without following routine practices were selected. The Ministry of the Interior and Safety conducted the '2022 Comprehensive Evaluation of Proactive Administration of Local Governments' targeting 243 local governments and announced the results on the 27th.

In particular, this evaluation is significant as it is the first evaluation conducted solely as the 'Comprehensive Evaluation of Proactive Administration of Local Governments.' Seventy-three local governments were selected as excellent institutions, among which Jeollabuk-do, Suwon-si in Gyeonggi, Yanggu-gun in Gangwon, and Seo-gu in Daejeon received high evaluations and were selected as the best institutions.

Jeollabuk-do, selected as the best metropolitan local government, strengthened support for socially vulnerable groups through collaboration with local companies and organizations.

As the best basic local governments, Suwon-si in Gyeonggi, Yanggu-gun in Gangwon, and Seo-gu in Daejeon were selected. As a result of this evaluation, local governments selected as excellent institutions will receive various benefits such as commendations from the President, the Prime Minister, and the Minister of the Interior and Safety, as well as special grants.

Choi Hoon, Director of the Local Autonomy Balanced Development Office at the Ministry of the Interior and Safety, said, “The challenging and creative proactive administration by local government officials to solve various problems occurring in local areas is increasing residents’ convenience and improving their quality of life,” adding, “We will strive to ensure that the first-ever Comprehensive Evaluation of Proactive Administration of Local Governments in 2022 induces changes in the public service community, spreads a culture of proactive administration in local communities, and produces tangible results that residents can feel.”
