A Strong Start Toward the Era of a 10 Trillion Won Budget
Geochang-gun, Gyeongnam Province, has made a strong start toward the era of a 1 trillion won budget.
On the 27th, the county announced that it held a project briefing session to secure national and provincial funds for 2024, chaired by County Governor Gu In-mo, with the attendance of the deputy governor, directors, former department heads, and town and township chiefs.
Securing national and provincial funds is crucial to flexibly promote the 8th term election pledges, current issues, and key projects for a greater leap forward for Geochang and the realization of an era of happiness for its residents, as well as to drive regional economic development and growth.
To this end, the county has set a target of 277.5 billion won for 2024, which is 13.2 billion won or 5% higher than last year, and is making all-out efforts on all fronts to secure 214.5 billion won in national subsidies and 63 billion won in provincial subsidies.
Gyeongnam Geochang-gun is holding a report meeting to promote securing national and provincial funds for 2024.
The major projects include 93 projects worth 138.6 billion won. Adding 10 projects directly implemented by the national government and Gyeongsangnam-do worth 66 billion won, the total comes to 103 projects worth 204.6 billion won, of which 50 are new projects worth 39.8 billion won.
New projects include ▲ Geochang-eup Regional Vitality Town Development Project (6 billion won) ▲ Anti-aging Bio Experience and Development (3.9 billion won) ▲ Susungdae Tourist Site Night Tourism Infrastructure Development Project (1.3 billion won) ▲ Mountain Herbal (Forest Products) Seedling Nursery Installation Project (1.3 billion won) ▲ Real-time Parking Information Sharing System Construction Project (500 million won) ▲ Reconstruction of Jukrim 2 Bridge and Yureong 2 Bridge in Ungyang-myeon (1.4 billion won) ▲ Facility Construction for Fruit Tree Hub Production Area Distribution Center to Establish Future Agricultural Base and Market Development (3 billion won) ▲ Support Project for Agricultural Product Production Area Distribution Center (2.2 billion won), among others.
Direct projects implemented by the national government and Gyeongsangnam-do include ▲ Southern Bypass Road Construction Project (total project cost 43.9 billion won) and ▲ Three projects for environmental maintenance of the Hwanggang River where the 2nd Changpowyun will be established (total project cost 72.2 billion won). These will be continuously proposed to relevant ministries to ensure early commencement and completion from 2024.
Starting from the briefing session, from March, all staff will undergo training to strengthen their capabilities in securing national funds, discover new projects, and apply for national fund projects. In April, they plan to visit Gyeongsangnam-do and central government ministries to focus on budget securing activities such as prioritization, preparing thoroughly for these efforts.
Governor Gu said, “Budget securing requires continuous effort, systematic preparation, thorough analysis, and organic activities with joint public-private responses. Therefore, all administrative power must be concentrated to maximize budget acquisition.” He added, “Just as beads must be strung together to become a treasure, all departments should proactively respond to secure financial momentum for our county’s vigorous leap forward and progress.”
Based on remarkable achievements last year, including securing 264.3 billion won in national and provincial funds and being selected for 57 public contest projects worth 110.4 billion won, Chang-gun has prepared an initial budget of 770 billion won, the highest ever, as a signal flare for the era of a 1 trillion won budget.
