[Asia Economy Reporter Oh Su-yeon] KT announced that from the 27th until the 2nd of next month (local time), it will open an exhibition hall under the theme "DX Partner Pioneering the Digital Era, Digico KT" at Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2023 held in Barcelona, Spain, introducing artificial intelligence (AI) semiconductors, robots, next-generation network solutions, and more.
The KT exhibition hall is located in Industry City and consists of three theme zones: ▲DX Platform ▲DX Expansion ▲DX Technology Leadership.
‘AI Full Stack’ Exhibition Covering the Entire Process from AI Infrastructure to Services
In the DX Platform zone, visitors can watch an introduction video of KT’s super-large AI ‘Mideum’ and explore the open AI research and development portal 'Genie Labs.' Among the various APIs released on Genie Labs, vision AI technology that analyzes images and videos is showcased. Also, key exhibits include Rebelion’s AI semiconductor manufacturing technology and More’s AI infrastructure solutions, which jointly build KT AI’s core strategy, the ‘AI Full Stack.’
Various KT technologies can also be experienced. These include 'LIS’FO,' which provides optimal transportation routes in real-time using AI technology, the logistics center operation efficiency solution ‘LIS’CO’ based on AI, and the platform 'Brokarry' that matches cargo owners and drivers in real-time. The ‘Autonomous Driving (ATI)’ technology, which applies infrastructure-based autonomous driving technology enabling level 5 autonomous driving, is also unveiled.
Finance and Media... Expansion of Digico’s Domains
In the DX Expansion zone, KT introduces Digico (Digital Platform Company) KT’s services expanding into various industrial sectors such as media and finance together with its group companies. BC Card exhibits digital payment platforms and technologies such as 'Pay-Z,' ‘BC Gateway,’ and ‘BAIS’ under the theme ‘Seamless Cross-border Payments.’ Visitors can experience the entire payment process directly using their smartphones.
Studio Genie promotes KT Group’s original content to domestic and international markets. Visitors can check the lineup of dramas aired last year, including eight dramas such as ‘No Secrets for Goo Pil-soo’ and ‘Extraordinary Attorney Woo,’ as well as dramas scheduled to air this year. The ‘Meta Dance’ service, where AI evaluates visitors dancing to K-pop music using their smartphones, is also available for experience.
A metaverse experience space themed on virtual reality is also prepared. Visitors can directly experience the B2B metaverse platform ‘Meta Lounge’ targeting government offices, local governments, and companies, as well as the B2C metaverse platform ‘Geniverse,’ which allows individuals to create their own metaverse spaces.
Showcasing DX Leading ICT Technologies such as Robots and Networks
In the DX Technology Leadership zone, KT unveils various robots. Visitors can see the robot platform ‘Robot Makers,’ which provides integrated services for heterogeneous robots, the ‘Delivery Robot’ capable of delivering in cold and hot conditions, and the ‘Disinfection Robot’ that autonomously patrols the exhibition hall for disinfection.
More advanced network technologies are also exhibited. These include ‘MEC (Mobile Edge Computing)’ technology jointly developed with global telecom companies as part of the GSMA project, and ‘RIS (Reconfigurable Intelligent Surface)’ technology co-developed with Seoul National University. RIS, which uses attachable ultra-small antennas to improve network quality, is gaining attention as a preliminary technology for 5G and 6G.
KT also exhibits technologies that strengthen 5G services, such as the ‘Enterprise Dedicated 5G Core on Cloud’ technology that combines private 5G services with Amazon Web Services (AWS), 5G uplink and downlink frequency aggregation technology, and integrated antennas for 5G and LTE. The ‘Wi-Fi 7’ technology, capable of speeds up to approximately 9.79 Gbps (measured with four router antennas) using the latest Wi-Fi standards, can also be experienced at the exhibition hall.
A program allowing visitors to participate in KT’s representative ESG project, the ‘Digital Citizen One Team’ activity, is also operated. Visitors who learn about the definition, core values, and aspirations of digital citizens will receive a small gift.
KT’s efforts for mutual growth with domestic partners can also be seen at MWC 2023. KT introduces core equipment for 5G specialized networks jointly developed with Iruon and promotes business networking with overseas buyers. To ensure effective exhibition operation, KT supports the local stay of Iruon’s R&D personnel in Spain during MWC and assists buyer invitations for visible export achievements this year, supporting export marketing as well.
Yang Yul-mo, KT’s Head of Public Relations (Executive Vice President), said, “At the MWC 2023 KT exhibition hall, visitors can experience various DX technologies such as AI semiconductors, robots, and next-generation network solutions, which are core competencies of Digico KT. We will prove Digico KT’s competitiveness pioneering the digital era through innovative DX technologies.”
