Groundbreaking Ceremony for Public Parking Lot at Samjeon Neighborhood Park, Songpa-gu

Songpa-gu to Construct Park and Public Parking Lot in One Location, Scheduled for Completion by July 2024

18.9 Billion Won Invested to Build a 6,019㎡ Underground Parking Lot with 166 Spaces Beneath the Park

Songpa-gu (Mayor Seo Gang-seok) announced on the 24th that it held a groundbreaking ceremony for the ‘Samjeon Neighborhood Park Public Parking Lot’ to alleviate parking difficulties in the densely populated residential area of Samjeon-dong and improve residents’ convenience, officially launching the construction project.

The Samjeon-dong public parking lot was planned in 2018 to be built underground at Samjeon Neighborhood Park due to the lack of vacant land nearby. However, construction was delayed because the site was located in an area designated for the preservation of buried cultural assets, requiring numerous procedures such as Seoul City Urban Park Review and Public Property Review.

In response, the district office explained that it made active efforts to promptly resolve the severe parking shortage in Samjeon-dong, resulting in the selection of all contractors by the end of December last year and the commencement of construction.

The ‘Samjeon Neighborhood Park Public Parking Lot’ will be constructed underground at Samjeon Neighborhood Park (62-1 Samjeon-dong) with a total project cost of 18.9 billion won, covering a total floor area of 6,019㎡, two basement levels, and 166 parking spaces. Completion is targeted for July 2024.

Specifically, 78 parking spaces will be built on the first basement level and 88 spaces on the second basement level, totaling 166 underground parking spaces.

Additionally, the aboveground park will be developed as a themed resting place featuring Healing, Evergreen, Learning, and Fragrance Forests, reborn as a healing space for residents.

Seo Gang-seok, Mayor of Songpa-gu, stated, “With the construction of the Samjeon Neighborhood Park Public Parking Lot and the new aboveground park, we expect not only to resolve parking difficulties but also to greatly enhance resident satisfaction. We will continue to do our best to improve parking convenience and create a safe and pleasant residential environment for our residents.”
