Safety Inspections and Crackdowns with Over 900 Institutions
On the 26th, the Ministry of the Interior and Safety announced that, in preparation for the start of the first semester this year, it will conduct safety inspections and crackdowns around elementary schools nationwide in collaboration with over 900 organizations, including central government ministries such as the Ministry of Education, Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy, Ministry of Gender Equality and Family, Ministry of Food and Drug Safety, the National Police Agency, affiliated agencies, local governments, and specialized institutions like the Korea Road Traffic Authority, to prevent children's safety accidents.
The key inspection areas by field are ▲traffic safety ▲hazardous environments ▲food safety ▲product safety ▲illegal advertisements ▲children's playground facilities, etc.
Additionally, this joint inspection will include campaigns with private organizations such as the Safety Culture Movement Promotion Council, Green Mothers' Association, and Outdoor Advertising Association to encourage voluntary participation from local residents.
Furthermore, if hazards around schools such as illegal parking or stopping in front of elementary school gates are reported through the Safe Report app or website, the relevant authorities will promptly take action.
Cho Sang-myeong, Director of the Safety Policy Office at the Ministry of the Interior and Safety, stated, “Children's safety cannot be emphasized enough. The government, local governments, private organizations, and all citizens will do their utmost to identify and swiftly resolve safety vulnerabilities one by one so that children can live with peace of mind.”
