Sister City Agreement with Guaira Department, Paraguay... Promoting International Exchange
Shinan-gun, Jeollanam-do (Governor Park Woo-ryang) is promoting international exchanges in various fields such as economy and culture through an international sisterhood agreement with Guaira Province, Paraguay.
According to the county on the 24th, on the 22nd, a "Sisterhood Agreement for Trade (MOA)" was signed with Guaira Province, Paraguay (Governor Barreto Cortesi Carlos Alberto).

The sisterhood agreement signed that day is Shinan-gun's first sisterhood agreement in the South American region and the first in eight years since Daheung-gu, China in 2015.
The event was attended by Governor Park Woo-ryang, Jeollanam-do Council member Choi Mi-sook, Shinan-gun Council members, Governor Barreto Cortesi Carlos Alberto of Guaira Province, and Lee Dong-ho, the diplomatic officer, who signed the sisterhood agreement and promised active exchange and cooperation.
Paraguay is a landlocked country located in central South America, traditionally competitive in agriculture and livestock industries, rich in natural resources and abundant in electric power resources, and is evaluated as a country with great growth potential.
Shinan-gun and Guaira Province, Paraguay will make multifaceted efforts to △friendly purchasing of local specialties from each region △purchase of products produced by companies in each region △distribution and cooperative sharing of mutual specialties such as seafood △discovering fields of possible cooperation △building cooperative relationships and expanding exchanges in various fields.
Governor Park Woo-ryang said, "Due to Paraguay's inland characteristics, it is expected to be difficult to access products of higher quality than our Shinan seafood," adding, "Through this sisterhood agreement, we will pioneer the South American market for Shinan agricultural and marine products such as Shinan solar salt, which accounts for 94% of domestic solar salt production, eco-friendly cultivated seaweed, and Shinan rice, ranked second in nationwide eco-friendly organic rice cultivation area, thereby further enhancing the status of K-FOOD."
Governor Barreto Cortesi Carlos Alberto of Guaira Province said, "This is my first visit to Korea," and added, "Korea and Paraguay have had 60 years of exchange, and I look forward to cooperation between Shinan-gun and Guaira Province."
