[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Hwang Du-yeol] Ulsan Metropolitan Office of Education is operating various policies this year as well to maintain its top-tier integrity level.
On the 24th at 2 p.m., Ulsan Office of Education held the 2023 Integrity Measures and Internal Audit Plan Briefing at the main auditorium, attended by about 460 people including Vice Superintendent Choi Seong-bu, senior officials at grade 4 (or equivalent) and above, and principals of schools at all levels.
At the briefing, the analysis results of the 2022 Comprehensive Integrity Evaluation of Public Institutions announced by the Anti-Corruption and Civil Rights Commission in January were shared to maintain the top-tier integrity level.
Subsequently, the '2023 Integrity Measures' were introduced, which include raising the foundation for corruption prevention and integrity, eradicating corruption and enhancing trust, transforming and changing integrity awareness, and spreading and establishing an integrity culture.
To raise the foundation for corruption prevention and integrity, the Office of Education operates an Integrity Measures Task Force led by the Superintendent every month, and alongside the existing Public Interest Reporting Center and Power Harassment Reporting Center, newly established an 'Anshim Lawyer' corner on the Office of Education website to activate anonymous proxy reporting.
This year’s internal audit aims to realize a transparent and fair audit for a clean Ulsan education by promoting school-centered and field-support consulting audits, improving integrity, open audits involving the educational community, and communication, fairness, and consideration in spatial audits.
In particular, this year, pre- and post-consulting audits that communicate with the educational field will be expanded, such as conducting pre-consulting before the completion of facility construction.
Additionally, on-site audits focused on system improvement and problem-solving will be supported, and to minimize audit preparation work in the educational field, the list of audit materials will be announced in advance, and specific audits will be scaled down.
Previously, Ulsan Metropolitan Office of Education received a grade 2 in the 2022 Comprehensive Integrity Evaluation of Public Institutions by the Anti-Corruption and Civil Rights Commission, ranking among the top in the 17 metropolitan and provincial offices of education nationwide, and was selected as an excellent institution for four consecutive years from 2019 to 2022 in the internal audit activity evaluation conducted by the Board of Audit and Inspection.
Acting Superintendent Choi Seong-bu said, “Integrity can deeply take root as a culture throughout society when each individual empathizes with its necessity and practices it,” and added, “Let us strive to spread the culture of integrity beyond Ulsan’s education sector to the entire Ulsan region.”
