Criticism of Government in Non-Negotiating Group's Representative Speech
'Anti-Intellectualism' on Gender Awareness, Labor Reform, etc.
50 Billion Club Special Investigation, Emphasis on Abolishing Immunity from Arrest
Lee Eun-ju, the floor leader of the Justice Party, targeted the Yoon Seok-yeol administration, stating that "Yongsan has become the epicenter of a massive social division that destroys politics itself today." She emphasized that the anti-intellectualism and right-wing populism of the Yoon government have caused the failure of Korean politics.
On the 24th, during the National Assembly's speech for representatives of non-negotiating parties, Lee said, "We are in a state of 'political failure,'" and pointed out, "It is clear that the primary responsibility for the current 'political failure' lies with the president."
She described the Yoon administration as "focused solely on mobilizing hostile supporters and rushing forward with anti-intellectual and incompetent 'right-wing populism.'"
As evidence, she cited gender awareness, labor reform, and security policies. Lee criticized the pledge to abolish the Ministry of Gender Equality and Family and the announcement and subsequent withdrawal of the non-consensual rape law, calling it "anti-intellectualism that rejects the structural awareness of gender discrimination."
She also said, "There is not even a trace of serious alternatives or efforts for dialogue to overcome the dual structure of the labor market in labor reform," adding, "Simply staging a 'union-bashing show' that portrays labor unions as corrupt vested interest groups will solve no problems."
She continued, "The president even mentioned nuclear armament, which would lead to the catastrophic 'NPT withdrawal,'" and said, "Ignorant, irresponsible, and unrestrained populism threatens not only the norms of international politics but also peace in East Asia."
Lee also pointed out controversies over the privatization of the People Power Party. She warned, "Yongsan has taken the lead in successively removing party leaders and candidates, turning party democracy into a farce," and added, "Eventually, it will be realized that the enemy of the Yoon Seok-yeol government is the Yoon Seok-yeol government itself."
Meanwhile, in her speech, Lee emphasized the need for a special investigation into the '50 Billion Club' and the abolition of parliamentary immunity concerning Lee Jae-myung, the leader of the Democratic Party of Korea. She also stressed the necessity of investigating the stock manipulation allegations involving Kim Keon-hee.
She presented three major tasks for politics: ▲ passing the Yellow Envelope Act and enacting the Basic Law for Working Citizens ▲ legislating the Platform Fairness Act ▲ legislating a Korean-style IRA. Additionally, the Justice Party promised to pursue ▲ increasing the number of doctors ▲ strengthening transparency in religious organizations' accounting ▲ and discussing legislation for the Life Partner Act.
