Gwangju Dong-gu 'Chungjang Festival' Wins Korea Festival Content Award

Since Dong-gu was first selected as the grand prize winner in the 'Contents category' in 2016, it has achieved consecutive awards in various categories for seven years, providing an opportunity to promote the 'Chueok-ui Chungjang Festival' nationwide.

The 'Korea Festival Contents Awards,' hosted by the Korea Festival Contents Association, is the most prestigious festival award in Korea that selects festival contents highly praised by festival experts, the general public, and foreigners, encouraging their global development in the future.

Last year, the Chungjang Festival, which attracted about 600,000 visitors and was a great success, contributed to revitalizing the local economy and developing regional culture and arts through events such as ▲ the '1st Buskers World Cup IN Gwangju,' enjoyed by people worldwide, ▲ Chungjang World Parade, and ▲ World Food and Culture Festival, earning recognition as a global festival beyond Gwangju.

Im Taek, Mayor of Dong-gu, said, “Last year, the Chungjang Festival specialized the intangible theme of ‘memory’ with the theme of ‘film,’ receiving great responses from domestic and international visitors. As the festival reaches its coming of age this year, we will develop it into a competitive festival with a clear identity where Gwangju’s unique ‘K-culture’ is alive.”
