"YS Always Believed in the People's Resilience"
"We Will Overcome Factors Like Economic Recession, High Inflation, and High Interest Rates"

Prime Minister Han Duck-soo stated on the 24th, "Our country is now one step closer to becoming the 'world-class nation' that former President Kim Young-sam so deeply dreamed of."

At the commemorative speech held at the Kim Young-sam Library for the '30th Anniversary of the Civilian Government Inauguration,' Prime Minister Han said, "President Kim Young-sam always believed in the resilience of the people under any circumstances. If economic agents unite their strength, any crisis can be overcome."

Prime Minister Han said that the government will prepare for domestic and international crisis factors such as the global economic downturn, high inflation, and high interest rates. He raised his voice, saying, "We are carefully managing the livelihood economy while continuing regulatory innovation and bold reforms, and putting all our efforts into preparing for the future. Based on the confidence of being the world's 6th largest exporter and the 10th largest economy, we will overcome each crisis one by one."

Prime Minister Han introduced a statement by former President Kim Young-sam, who said, "If the people become one, we can become a respected human nation that contributes to world peace and human progress," and said that if all actors, including the people, government, companies, and workers, unite their strength, they will be able to overcome crises.

Prime Minister Han especially emphasized, "We will build an advanced nation standing tall in the world through the achievements and reflections made over the 30 years since the civilian government." He added, "Based on liberal democracy and a market economy system, we are realizing a 'nation where the people are the owners' by strongly protecting the socially vulnerable."

He revealed that the major reforms carried out by former President Kim laid the foundation for modernization. In particular, he recalled the declaration of the 'Real-Name Financial System' implemented on August 12, 1993, when he was serving as the Secretary for Trade and Industry in the Presidential Secretariat. Prime Minister Han said, "I vividly remember that event. It brought tremendous shock and changed all sectors." He added, "Through the Real-Name Financial System, a healthy democracy, realization of distributive justice, and the foundation of social morality could be properly established."

He also mentioned former President Kim's achievements such as the dissolution of the Hanahoe, disclosure of public officials' assets, and the real-name system for real estate, explaining, "He devoted all his efforts to eradicating our old customs and corruption." He further explained, "For the first time in history, we achieved a per capita income of $10,000 and exports of $100 billion, creating an opportunity to take a step forward."

Finally, Prime Minister Han said, "The President always emphasized to public officials, 'The Cabinet must take the will of the people seriously, be faithful to the mission of the era, and fear the judgment of history.' As the Prime Minister currently responsible for the Cabinet, I will not forget those words."
