[Asia Economy Reporter Ryu Tae-min] Hyosung announced on the 23rd that it has decided to recommend former Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Strategy and Finance Yoo Il-ho and former Minister of Trade, Industry and Energy Sung Yoon-mo as outside director candidates at the regular shareholders' meeting.
Former Deputy Prime Minister Yoo served as a member of the 18th and 19th National Assembly, Minister of Land, Infrastructure and Transport in 2015, and Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Strategy and Finance from 2016 to 2017. Since 2020, he has been serving as an advisor at the law firm Class and is currently also an outside director at Samsung Life Insurance.
Former Minister Sung served as Director of the Economic Coordination Office at the Office for Government Policy Coordination and Commissioner of the Korean Intellectual Property Office, and was Minister of Trade, Industry and Energy from 2018 to 2021. He is currently a distinguished professor at Chung-Ang University.
Hyosung also recommended Kim So-young, a lawyer from Kim & Chang law firm and former Supreme Court Justice, and Cho Byung-hyun, former President of the Seoul High Court and representative lawyer of the law firm Pyeongan, as new outside directors.
For the audit committee member candidates, along with the four new outside director candidates, current outside director and former Minister of Culture and Tourism (now Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism) Jeong Dong-chae was also included. Additionally, Hyosung proposed the reappointment of Kim Kyu-young, Vice Chairman and CEO, as an inside director.
The Hyosung regular shareholders' meeting will be held on March 17 at 10 a.m. in the auditorium on the basement first floor of the Hyosung Building in Mapo-gu, Seoul.
