[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Gwiyeol] Yeongyang-gun, Gyeongbuk Province (Governor Oh Do-chang) held an Agricultural Industry-Academic Cooperation Deliberation Committee meeting on the 23rd at the Agricultural Technology Center's main conference room to select recipients for the 2023 Rural Development Pilot Project.
The Yeongyang-gun Agricultural Industry-Academic Cooperation Deliberation Committee operates as a collaborative body among industry, academia, government, and research institutions, including Andong National University, Gyeongbuk Provincial Agricultural Research & Extension Services Chili Research Institute, agricultural-related organizations, and farmer groups. Its purpose is to foster local agriculture, select agricultural technology development tasks, efficiently promote technology dissemination, and gather policy opinions for guidance projects. At this meeting, farms and organizations were selected to carry out this year's rural development pilot projects.
To enhance agricultural competitiveness through the introduction of new farming technologies and rapid technology diffusion, 29 project proposals across five fields of the 2023 Rural Development Pilot Project (Human Resource Development, Living Resources, Crop Environment, Vegetable Horticulture, and Fruit & Specialty Crops) were presented. Based on field discussions and on-site investigation data, the committee members thoroughly reviewed and deliberated to select the recipients.
Lee Yoon-chil, Director of the Agricultural Technology Center and chairperson of the committee, stated in his opening remarks, “Through transparent and fair selection of recipients, we hope to discover new pilot projects for the development of Yeongyang agriculture and successfully implement these pilot projects in the agricultural field.”
