2023 Public Health Medical Policy Workshop
Discussion on Promotion and Development Plans for Health Medical Policy
[Muan=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Yoon Jamin] Jeonnam Province is taking steps to promote the health of its residents to restore daily life, which had stalled due to COVID-19.
The province announced that on the 23rd, it held the ‘2023 Public Health Medical Policy Workshop’ at the Mokpo Shangri-La Beach Hotel.
About 100 health and medical officials, including heads of city and county health centers, discussed the promotion and development plans for health and medical policies in 2023 to enhance residents' health in the era of daily life recovery (COVID endemic).
They pledged to strive to improve residents' health and happiness by expanding and strengthening areas such as health promotion, infectious disease management, and pharmaceutical management.
In the health promotion sector, this year, through the rural medical service improvement project, they shared plans to expand high-quality public health medical services, build two hospital ships for island residents, support medically vulnerable areas, and implement integrated health promotion projects.
This year, two newly introduced mobile health guardian buses will provide medical services to medically vulnerable groups in the eastern and western regions starting in the second half of the year, and comprehensive dementia management measures will be established and implemented as Jeonnam enters a super-aged society.
In the infectious disease management sector, efforts will be made to eradicate hepatitis C through pilot projects and strengthen tuberculosis prevention and management projects to increase treatment rates through early screening and detection, as well as to prevent severe cases and reduce mortality.
In the pharmaceutical management sector, emergency medical infrastructure will be expanded, rapid response team training will be conducted to enhance response capabilities for disasters with many casualties, and mental healing services for residents exhausted by COVID-19 will also be expanded.
Additionally, to provide public health medical support tailored to regional characteristics, a cooperative system will be established and operated with the Public Health Medical Support Group.
Lee Sangshim, Director of the Jeonnam Provincial Health and Welfare Bureau, said, “I appreciate the hard work of city and county health center staff who have done their best to protect residents' lives through quarantine and rapid vaccination on the COVID-19 frontlines,” and added, “Even in the COVID endemic phase, the province and city and county governments should promote health and medical policies for residents' health and happiness through communication and cooperation.”
