BNK Gyeongnam Bank was selected as the recipient of the ‘Minister of Economy and Finance Award’ in the institutional category at the ‘12th Forum on Financial Services for the Underprivileged and Financial Services Awards,’ sponsored by the Ministry of Economy and Finance, the Financial Services Commission, the Financial Supervisory Service, and the Korea Inclusive Finance Agency, and hosted by a media company.
On the 23rd, Bank President Choi Hong-young attended the ‘12th Forum on Financial Services for the Underprivileged and Financial Services Awards Ceremony’ held at the Westin Chosun Hotel in Seoul and received the Minister of Economy and Finance Award from Deputy Minister Lee Hyung-il of the Ministry of Economy and Finance.

President Choi, who received the Minister of Economy and Finance Award, said, “It is an honor to be recognized for BNK Gyeongnam Bank’s multifaceted efforts to support financial services for the underprivileged and vulnerable groups. We will continue to actively work so that more underprivileged people and local residents can benefit from financial services and systems. Furthermore, BNK Gyeongnam Bank will move forward even closer with customers as a reliable partner in the Gyeongnam and Ulsan regions.”
Established in 1970 with the purpose of balanced national development and revitalizing the regional economy, BNK Gyeongnam Bank has carried out financial support for local residents through leading and proactive policies.
In particular, amid the uncertain economic situation in 2022, BNK Gyeongnam Bank planned and promoted the ‘Crisis Overcoming Partnership Project,’ consisting of three programs and thirteen detailed projects to support financial services for the underprivileged and vulnerable groups: ▲support for financial services for the underprivileged ▲support for vulnerable groups ▲support for recovery.
Additionally, for vulnerable groups holding high-interest loans exceeding 7%, the bank provided up to a 1% interest rate reduction, waived overdue interest for borrowers affected by COVID-19, and expanded the Small Business Hope Sharing Project.
Moreover, to continuously collaborate with the local community, BNK Gyeongnam Bank annually made special contributions exceeding 6 billion KRW to the Regional Credit Guarantee Foundation to support financial products for small business owners lacking collateral.
After the Financial Services Awards ceremony, BNK Gyeongnam Bank presented successful cases of financial services for the underprivileged as the institutional representative at the Financial Services Forum.
