Cheon Ha-ram "Surpassed Ahn Cheol-soo... Already Silver Cross"

Cheon Haram, MBC Radio Interview
"If I defeat presidential candidate-level Ahn, the Cheon Haram typhoon will blow"

[Asia Economy Reporter Yoon Seul-gi] Cheon Ha-ram, a candidate for the People Power Party leadership, expressed confidence that he has achieved a 'Silver Cross' (the phenomenon of 2nd and 3rd place support rates reversing) against Ahn Cheol-soo, another candidate for the People Power Party leadership, and that he can create a 'Cheon Ha-ram typhoon.'

On the 23rd, Cheon appeared on MBC Radio's 'Kim Jong-bae's Focus' and asserted that he ranked second in a recent poll conducted among responsible party members, surpassing Ahn. He said, "Since yesterday's debate, the structure has completely solidified into reform's Cheon Ha-ram versus old customs' Kim Ki-hyun."

He pointed out that Ahn failed in appealing to 'Yoon-sim' (President Yoon Seok-yeol's intentions) and is late in establishing a clear stance. He said, "Candidate Ahn Cheol-soo is attractive when talking about science and technology," but added, "In the current party convention structure, that alone is too late to secure his position by defining his stance." He further stated, "He is originally a great person, but after failing to appeal to Yoon-sim, he has nothing left to do."

Cheon said, "I believe I will win if it goes to a runoff," and added, "It is nothing unusual for Ahn Cheol-soo to defeat Cheon Ha-ram. That is naturally expected, but for Cheon Ha-ram to defeat Ahn Cheol-soo, who is a presidential candidate level, is a very big deal."

He continued, "If I reach the runoff, the upward trend will turn into a typhoon," and said, "In that case, the frame of reform versus old customs will strongly attach, and I believe that more than 50% of our party members will choose the path of reform rather than the path of Yoon Hae-gwan."
