Donation of 50 Million Won for Earthquake-Affected Area Recovery
Delivered Locally Through the Korean Red Cross
To Be Used for Relief Activities Including Purchase of Daily Necessities for Disaster Victims
APR announced on the 23rd that it will donate 50 million KRW to support local disaster victims suffering from the earthquake damage in Turkey and Syria.
APR stated that it delivered 50 million KRW in donations for the recovery from the Turkey-Syria earthquake damage through the Korean Red Cross headquarters the day before. The Korean Red Cross, as a member of the task force (TF) composed of government agencies including the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of National Defense, Ministry of Health and Welfare, Ministry of the Interior and Safety, Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy, Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, and the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety, as well as public-private organizations such as the Korea Civil Society Organizations for International Development Cooperation (KCOC), the Korea Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and the Community Chest of Korea, also attended an emergency meeting held on the 13th.
The donation will be used to provide urgent relief supplies, food, and shelters to the local disaster victims in dire need. An APR official said, "We decided to donate with the hope that it will be a small support to the residents of the Turkey-Syria region who are suffering from the unexpected massive earthquake damage," adding, "APR will also contribute as a member of the international community to the fastest possible recovery of the affected residents."
