316,800 Rice Noodles Sold by April ($265,000)
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Song Jong-gu] Rice noodles produced by Georyu Agricultural Cooperative Corporation in Goseong-gun, Gyeongnam, will be exported to the United States.
On the 22nd, the county held a ceremony celebrating the first export of rice noodles to the U.S. at the Georyu Agricultural Cooperative Corporation rice noodle factory, attended by County Governor Lee Sang-geun, Georyu Agricultural Cooperative Corporation CEO Son Sang-jae, and about 10 export-related personnel.
The rice noodles shipped that day amounted to 52,800 pieces ($44,200), and the total rice noodles scheduled for export by April will reach 316,800 pieces ($265,200).
Rice noodles from Georyu Agricultural Cooperative Corporation located in Goseong-gun, Gyeongnam, have been exported to the United States.
Through the Korean food export company R&G, the product will be sold nationwide in the U.S. under the well-established Korean food brand ‘Assi’ as Assi Weolnam Ssalguksu (Assi Weolnam Rice Noodles), an OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) product.
To achieve this U.S. export, Georyu Agricultural Cooperative Corporation has made efforts over several years to develop the market through various overseas buyer promotion events, export fairs, and the LA Agricultural and Marine Korean Festival. The milestone was reached last December when the rice noodle export contract with R&G was finalized.
CEO Son said, “We are pleased that rice noodles processed using rice grown in our region are now on the path to export,” adding, “We will continue to target the U.S. noodle food market with Goseong rice and pioneer new opportunities for the rice industry.”
