SPC Group announced on the 23rd that it has expanded the scale of the ‘SPC Happy Scholarship’ by 50% to reduce the tuition burden for more part-time university students, awarding scholarships to a total of 150 recipients.
The SPC Happy Scholarship is a scholarship support program operated since 2012 according to the will of SPC Chairman Hur Young-in, who said, “Support young people working in stores to nurture their dreams.”
SPC has been supporting 200 students annually (100 per semester) with 50% of their tuition fees, selected from university students working at affiliated brand stores such as Paris Baguette, Baskin Robbins, Dunkin, Pascucci, or partner companies, or recommended by the nonprofit organization Busuragi Sarang Nanumhoe, considering factors such as length of service, work attitude, family circumstances, and academic plans.
Starting this year, the scholarship support scale has been expanded by 50% to 150 students per semester, totaling 300 students annually. Through this program, SPC plans to provide scholarships worth approximately 240 million KRW to a total of 150 part-time university students.
An SPC official stated, “Reflecting the reality of increasing difficulties due to the economic downturn, we have decided to expand the scale of scholarship support compared to before,” adding, “We will continue to spare no effort in providing various supports, including scholarships, so that part-time university students can overcome financial difficulties and continue their studies well.”
Now in its 23rd year, the SPC Happy Scholarship has produced a total of 2,178 scholarship recipients and has provided cumulative scholarships amounting to 3.86 billion KRW.
