Director Lee Young-ho Receives Excellence in Coaching Award
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Yong-woo] Kim Min-jae (4th year, Department of Physical Education), a wrestler of Dong-A University (President Lee Hae-woo), received the Excellent Athlete Award from the Busan City Ssireum Association. Coach Lee Young-ho received the Excellent Coach Plaque.
At the '2023 Regular General Assembly and 2022 Meritorious Person Awards Ceremony' held by the Busan City Ssireum Association on the 17th, Kim received the Excellent Athlete Award, and Coach Lee received the Excellent Coach Plaque awarded to the coach with the best performance.
Last year, Kim won first place in the university division individual competition in the Cheongjang class (-85kg) at the '14th Gurye Women’s Cheonhajangsa and University Jangsa Ssireum Competition' held in Gurye, Jeonnam. After graduating from Dong-A High School, he entered Dong-A University in 2019 and grew in the Busan regional ssireum scene.
Kim said, "I am happy that the results of my long and hard training have been rewarded with an award," and added, "I will take this encouragement as a whip to put more effort into training."
Coach Lee, leading the Dong-A University Ssireum team which celebrated its 50th anniversary, was recognized for his achievements including winning the university division team competition at the '2022 National City and Province Jangsa Ssireum Competition' last April for the first time in seven years, marking the 35th team victory overall.
Coach Lee said, "Last year's university division team victory was the first in six years since I took office," and added, "I dedicate this joy to the players who silently endured the tough training and to the school that generously supported us."
