[Gurye=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yuk Miseok] Jeollanam-do Gurye-gun announced that on February 18th, at the Jirisan History and Culture Center, they conducted a traditional Lunar New Year’s Day experience event of flying sky lanterns for those who had pre-registered for the experience.
At the plaza of the History and Culture Center, participants sent off sky lanterns on which they had sincerely written their wishes, praying for their hopes in the new year and sending away bad luck far away.
Not only the event participants but also general visitors expressed admiration at the colorful and vibrant spectacle created by the sky lanterns.
In addition to flying sky lanterns, there were unique experience programs that children found interesting, such as ▶ cracking nuts (peanuts, walnuts) and sharing them with family ▶ making magic boxes using Kapla blocks.
Children learned about traditional culture while creating unforgettable joyful memories with their families.
Kim Sunho, the governor of Gurye-gun, said, “We will continue to make efforts so that the Jirisan History and Culture Center becomes a place people want to visit repeatedly, combining fun and history through distinctive monthly programs.”
