[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Jin-hyung] The Gwangju Northern Fire Station announced on the 22nd that it has promoted fire safety measures targeting apartment complexes in its jurisdiction.
The Northern Fire Station urged related parties to raise safety awareness and prevent fires in accordance with recent related laws and regulations regarding the expansion of electric vehicle charging facilities and dedicated parking spaces in apartment complexes within the jurisdiction. It also conveyed instructions on the usage and precautions according to the types of evacuation facilities installed within apartment units.
The main points include ▲recommendation to install chargers in above-ground spaces ▲distribution of electric vehicle fire response manuals ▲guidance to evacuate first, then report to 119 and perform initial response in case of fire ▲delivery of precautions according to evacuation facilities within apartment units.
Ju Young-cheol, head of the Prevention and Safety Division, said, “As charging stations increase in underground parking lots of apartment complexes, the risk of fire also rises. If the initial response to a fire in an underground parking lot is delayed, it can lead to massive casualties and property damage. We ask related parties to actively strengthen safety management and participate in fire prevention.”
