The Value of 'Gati', a Catalyst for Regional Happiness
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Seo Young-seo] Yeongam-gun, Jeollanam-do (Governor Woo Seung-hee) has confirmed 17 village communities for the ‘2023 Village Community Contest Project,’ which is being promoted to enable residents to solve local problems on their own and create villages where they want to live, and will support a project budget of 104 million won.
According to the county on the 22nd, the number of village communities increased by 5 from 12 last year, showing growing interest among residents in village communities.
This year’s village community support project is being promoted through the ‘Village Community Activity Support Project’ and the ‘Happy Dream Care Community Support Project.’
The county plans to provide accounting education and consulting related to project implementation for the selected communities. Communities that complete the education and have their project execution plans approved will be able to start project implementation from early March.
The ‘Village Community Activity Support Project’ aims to diversify village community revitalization projects and develop brand projects to strengthen the capacity to solve local problems and create villages where people want to live. It will be promoted through village video production, village festivals, discovery of village resources, establishment of village networks, and village environment protection, confirming 14 village communities at the seed and sprout stages.
Additionally, to complement the limitations of public care supply and to foster a resident-led mutual care culture, the ‘Happy Dream Care Community Support Project,’ which is being implemented for the first time this year, has selected 3 care communities and plans to support projects such as alternative care for multicultural children in the village, youth experience events, and food sharing.
A county official said, “Starting this year, we plan to nurture village activists through the Yeongam-gun Village Community Support Center and strengthen on-site activity support to ensure smooth community activities,” adding, “Through the village community project, we expect to build continuous local social networks and revitalize the stagnant local community by creating warm and desirable villages to live in.”
