[Asia Economy Reporter Suyeon Woo] The Chevrolet compact sport utility vehicle (SUV) Trailblazer ranked first in the SUV category for overseas sales performance in January this year.
According to the January automotive statistics monthly report by the Korea Automobile Manufacturers Association (KAMA), the Trailblazer, along with its sibling model, the Buick Encore GX, exported 15,311 units in January alone.
Roberto Rempel, President of GM Korea, said, "The Trailblazer has played a key volume role for GM in the compact SUV segment both domestically and globally. We are pleased to see continuous demand from customers worldwide due to its proven vehicle performance and quality."
The Trailblazer is GM's strategic model targeting the global market. Together with its sibling model, the Buick Encore GX, it has been launched in the global market since 2020. As of January, a cumulative total of 451,981 units have been sold overseas. In June and October of last year, it also ranked first in monthly passenger car exports.
The Trailblazer embodies the American authentic SUV. It features an all-wheel-drive system and a high-strength body designed for off-road driving, which are rare in compact SUVs. Premium features beyond its class include a Skyfall panoramic sunroof, wireless phone projection, head-up display, and a 7-speaker Bose premium sound system.
Chevrolet is conducting a special promotion along with immediate delivery of the Trailblazer in February. Customers who purchase the Trailblazer through the combo program (a combination of cash support and installment benefits) during February will receive a cash support of 1.8 million KRW. For lump-sum purchases, 50% of the acquisition tax and registration tax will be supported.
Additionally, Chevrolet offers an extra cash benefit of 500,000 KRW for Chevrolet vehicle owners who purchase the Trailblazer again, and 300,000 KRW for those who replace vehicles older than 7 years with a new car.
