Announcement of the 8th Minseon Provincial Government Vision and Military Current Issues Report
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Soon-kyung] Park Wan-su, Governor of Gyeongsangnam-do, who is touring 18 cities and counties in Gyeongnam, visited Hapcheon Culture and Arts Center on the 21st to strengthen on-site communication with residents and promote win-win cooperation, holding a dialogue session with about 250 Hapcheon residents.
The ‘Dialogue with Hapcheon Residents’ held at the Culture and Arts Center that day was attended by about 250 people including County Governor Kim Yoon-cheol, Chairman of the County Council Jo Sam-sul, members of the Gyeongnam Provincial Council, organizations and local representatives, and residents. The event proceeded in the order of presenting the vision for the 8th elected administration, reporting on county issues, and dialogue with residents.
Governor Kim said, “Our Hapcheon will develop into a city centered on tourism and agriculture along with beautiful nature as a transportation hub in the southern inland region,” adding, “I hope the Governor will be a strong supporter so that Hapcheon can lead the future of Gyeongnam.”
At the dialogue with residents, Hapcheon County explained key county administration projects such as ▲development of the Hapcheon Station area new town ▲creation of the Hapcheon Meteorite Impact World Geopark ▲construction of the Dumu Mountain pumped-storage power plant, and requested support for projects requiring provincial funding such as ▲construction of Hapcheon Culture and Arts Center ▲construction of Hapcheon multipurpose gymnasium.
Governor Park responded, “I believe Hapcheon is the place with the highest potential and possibility for development in Gyeongnam,” and said, “I sympathize with the necessity of major pending projects and will actively cooperate to secure national and provincial funding for the projects you have proposed so that Hapcheon can develop further.”
Following this, residents proposed various and vivid opinions such as the ‘Hapcheon East Park Golf Course Development Project’ and ‘Local Road No. 1026 (Hajohang-Wonsong)’, and Governor Park received applause from residents by positively reviewing and instructing prompt implementation of the residents’ requests.
Meanwhile, before the event started, Governor Park Wan-su listened to various opinions from the committee at the Hwanggang Water Intake Station Residents’ Countermeasure Committee meeting regarding the direction for the county and province. After the dialogue with residents, he visited the ‘Hapcheon Choonran Seedling Farm,’ which is the first in the nation to foster Korean Choonran as an agricultural income crop and is aiming to enter the flower market, to check the current status.
