Hamyang-gun, Recruiting Vehicles for Participation in the Carbon Neutrality Point System for Automobiles

First-come, first-served recruitment of 56 units until March 3

[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Soon-kyung] Hamyang-gun, Gyeongnam Province, is recruiting participants on a first-come, first-served basis until March 3 for the ‘Automobile Carbon Neutrality Point System,’ which provides incentives to drivers in the area who reduce their driving distance.

The Automobile Carbon Neutrality Point System is an expanded program from the carbon neutrality point system, which was previously implemented for buildings such as homes and commercial establishments to promote the reduction of greenhouse gases in daily life, now extended to the automobile sector.

The eligible vehicles are non-commercial passenger cars and vans with 12 seats or fewer registered in Hamyang-gun, with about 56 vehicles being recruited on a first-come, first-served basis this year. However, eco-friendly vehicles (electric, hydrogen, hybrid, etc.), commercial vehicles, and vehicles owned by corporations or organizations are excluded. Only one vehicle per person (based on the owner) can participate.

Participation performance is evaluated based on the rate and amount of driving distance reduction, and incentives ranging from 20,000 KRW to a maximum of 100,000 KRW can be received according to the results.

Those wishing to participate can sign up on the Automobile Carbon Neutrality Point System website and submit photos of their vehicle’s license plate and the odometer showing cumulative mileage.

A county official stated, “We hope for active participation in the Automobile Carbon Neutrality Point System, which helps reduce greenhouse gases, spread an eco-friendly driving culture, and provides incentives.”
