Robot Available for Rental at Local Daycare Centers Starting March

[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Dongguk Lee] Pohang City is implementing a rental project for AI coding robots in daycare centers to provide user-centered customized childcare and to expand and diversify digital experiences for infants and toddlers.

The AI coding robots rented to daycare centers this time are humanoid robots with a human-like body, capable of interacting and communicating like real people.

On the 21st, Lee Gang-deok, Mayor of Pohang, visited the city hall daycare center and experienced AI coding robots together with the children.

The main functions include voice recognition, vision recognition, and motion implementation. Through coding using a dedicated program, children can have various and interesting experiences. In particular, the robots express emotions through changes in their pupils, allowing emotional interaction and communication with children.

Pohang City plans to carry out the AI robot rental project targeting local daycare centers starting in March. After making a reservation at the Pohang City Childcare Support Center, the robots can be rented for two weeks.

Mayor Kangdeok Lee said, “I am pleased that infants, toddlers, and teachers can experience core future technologies and utilize various AI content by singing children’s songs, doing rhythmic movements, and playing word chain games together with AI coding robots.” He added, “We will analyze this year’s project results and strive to provide multifaceted support next year so that infants and toddlers can have diverse experiences and play.”
