'Jellicle Seats' Revival, Ticket Sales Start from April 22
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Yong-woo] The real ‘Musical Cats’ is coming to Ulsan.
Ulsan Culture and Arts Center (Director Ma Dong-cheol) announced on the 21st that it will present the ‘Musical Cats Original Korea Tour’ in April.
The performance will be held at the Ulsan Culture and Arts Center Grand Theater for a total of 5 shows over 3 days from April 21 to 23 (April 21 at 7:30 PM, April 22 and 23 at 2 PM and 7 PM).
This performance, presented by the original touring cast of Musical Cats for the first time in 6 years, is jointly organized by Ulsan Culture and Arts Center and Gongyeon Maru Co., Ltd.
Musical Cats premiered in 1981 in London’s West End and has since won 7 Tony Awards including Best Musical in 1983. It created historic long-running shows with 21 years in London’s West End and 18 years on Broadway in New York. It is a masterpiece watched by over 80 million people in more than 300 cities across 30 countries worldwide.
This Korea tour features the original direction that freely moves between the stage and the audience seats, and the revival of the Jellicle seats after 5 years, raising expectations even higher.
The cats in Cats are called Jellicles, and the seats located along the movement paths of actors in cat makeup are called Jellicle seats.
Super diva Joanna Ampil, known for her ‘legendary memory,’ and top actors including world-renowned musical star Brad Little will showcase their acting and energy.
Tickets for the Ulsan performance are sold at 170,000 KRW for Jellicle seats and VIP seats. Tickets can be purchased from the 22nd on the Ulsan Culture and Arts Center website, Interpark Ticket, and YES24.
The Ulsan Culture and Arts Center website offers a 20% discount on tickets for paid members of the center.
A representative of Ulsan Culture and Arts Center said, “You will be able to see cats who have thrown off their masks,” and added, “We hope you enjoy a performance that breaks down the boundaries between the stage and the audience and communicates with the viewers.”
