'Unspoken Family Worries End Now'... Gyeonggi-do Operates 'Happy Family Program' Family Experience

[Asia Economy (Suwon) = Reporter Lee Young-gyu] Gyeonggi Province will operate the 'Happy Family Program,' an educational and activity support project for various types of families, including couple counseling, family camps, and economic education for single-person households, starting in March.

This project is planned by Gyeonggi Province and consists of various educational and activity programs operated at Healthy Family Support Centers and Family Centers in 31 cities and counties.

Last year, the Happy Family Program had a total of 17,248 residents participating, with 6,850 in life-cycle courses and 10,398 in theme-based courses.

Participant satisfaction after the education was high, scoring 4.73 out of 5.0. In particular, many respondents said that participating in the program increased opportunities for communication within the family and helped form emotional bonds.

Accordingly, this year, education will be conducted by dividing family programs by life cycle stages such as prospective and newlywed couples, infancy, childhood and adolescence, and middle and older age, as well as theme-based programs for dual-income families, multicultural families, single-parent families, single-person households, and families raising companion animals. In addition, the program plans to move beyond simple experiential events and educational support to link counseling and treatment programs, providing practical help to residents.

Furthermore, as the COVID-19 situation eases, face-to-face programs such as experiential activities and camps will be revitalized.

Choi Young-mook, Director of the Family and Multicultural Division of the Province, stated, "We expect that many residents will participate in the Happy Family Program, helping to increase understanding among family members and strengthen family relationships, thereby enhancing the happiness of families in the province."
