[Asia Economy Reporter Jeon Jinyoung] On the 20th (local time), when U.S. President Joe Biden made a sudden visit to Kyiv, Ukraine, Russian state media immediately reacted with opposition.
The New York Times (NYT) reported that Russian state broadcasters such as RIA Novosti criticized, saying, "Biden's visit is evidence that the West is conducting a proxy war against Russia in Ukraine."
The outlet also targeted the Kyiv authorities, stating that they "represent the collective tool of the West."
A talk show host from the Russian state media Rossiya 1 said that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky posted a photo taken with President Biden in Kyiv on social networking services (SNS) that day, adding, "Zelensky was overwhelmed with joy."
Sergey Mardan, a journalist known as a mouthpiece for the Putin regime, also claimed via Telegram that this visit was "an outright humiliation from Russia's perspective."
Earlier, President Biden made an unannounced visit to the capital Kyiv ahead of the one-year anniversary of Russia's invasion of Ukraine on the 24th.
