Jogyuil Jinju Mayor, On-Site Inspection from Geumsan Samgeori to Local Road

[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Soon-kyung] Jo Gyu-il, mayor of Jinju City, Gyeongnam Province, announced on the 21st that he visited the site of the "Geumsan Samgeori to Local Road (Route 1009) Road Construction" project in the Jungcheon-ri area of Geumsan-myeon, which is scheduled for completion in June, to check the progress of the construction.

The road between Geumsan Samgeori and Local Road (Route 1009) is being constructed as a four-lane urban planning road with a total investment of 10 billion KRW, extending 340 meters in length and 20 meters in width.

Jinju City is currently carrying out the widening and paving of the Munsan to Geumsan Bridge road (Local Road 1009) through Gyeongsangnam-do Province. However, since expanding only the local road is insufficient to resolve the traffic congestion in Geumsan-myeon, the city has been promoting the construction of a separate road between Geumsan Samgeori and the local road to alleviate traffic congestion in a way that citizens can directly feel.

Joo Kyu-il, mayor of Jinju City, Gyeongnam, is visiting the site of the Geumsan Samgeori local road construction and receiving an explanation of the progress of the construction.

After the local fiscal investment review in 2019, administrative procedures such as approval of the urban planning facility implementation plan were completed, and construction began smoothly in January 2021. However, the project faced difficulties due to delays in land compensation negotiations for four sites around Geumsan Samgeori. Compensation for the sites was completed in January of this year, and four houses obstructing the project are scheduled to be demolished in February.

Mayor Jo said, "The Local Road 1009, which will open on the 21st, is a long-awaited project by local residents since 2006, and the sections between Yongari and Jungcheon-ri in Geumsan-myeon will be partially opened." He added, "Along with this, when the urban planning road promoted by our city opens in June, traffic volume will be dispersed, greatly alleviating traffic congestion for residents in the Geumsan area."

Jinju City plans to complete the remaining work, including the demolition of obstructing houses, as soon as possible to ensure the opening of the urban planning road between Geumsan Samgeori and Local Road (Route 1009) in June.
