Testimony of a Witness Related to Mr. A
Park Gyuri (35), a former member of the girl group Kara, was questioned as a witness regarding her ex-boyfriend Mr. A's cryptocurrency fraud allegations.
On the 20th, JoongAng Ilbo reported that Mr. A, the CEO of the art-linked P Coin issuing company, has been booked as a suspect for fraud and is under investigation. It was also reported that a famous girl group member who worked as a curator and Chief Communications Officer (CCO) at company P was summoned last month as a witness for questioning.
Park Gyuri's agency, identified as the girl group member, stated to Asia Economy via text message on the same day, "She served as a curator at the art gallery of Mr. A, who was her boyfriend at the time, and gave a witness statement to the investigative authorities."
They added, "During the testimony, she clearly explained that she was not involved in any illegal activities related to the coin business and did not obtain any unfair benefits," and "She has no connection to the art-linked coin business but will fully cooperate with the related investigation."
Currently, the Financial Investigation Division 1 of the Seoul Southern District Prosecutors' Office (Chief Lee Seung-hyung) is conducting an investigation into Mr. A. The prosecution believes that Mr. A and others from the P Coin issuing company manipulated the coin’s market price by spreading false information and engaging in price manipulation. Mr. A is also suspected of bribing the exchange through brokers at the time of the coin’s listing. Coinone designated P Coin as a cautionary item on the 16th.
Mr. A, known as the grandson of the founder of a local construction company, publicly dated Park Gyuri in 2019 and broke up in 2021.
