More Than 50% Cheaper Compared to Regular Products
Lotte Mart announced on the 21st that it will sell 'Win-Win Broccoli' from the 23rd of this month to the 1st of next month to help farmers affected by the cold wave.
Last month, the average daily temperature in Jeju Island dropped by more than 18 degrees within ten days, causing significant cold damage to crops. In particular, broccoli grown in Hallim-eup and Aewol-eup suffered severe cold damage to the root parts embedded in the ground, making most of the harvest difficult to commercialize. Accordingly, Lotte Mart purchased this quantity and offers it at 2,690 won, which is more than 50% cheaper than regular products.
Win-Win Broccoli is a product made by removing the cold-damaged core part from regular products and consisting of the edible flower head part, with no difference in taste or nutrition. For this event, Lotte Mart purchased about 10 tons of broccoli from over 50 farms in Hallim-eup and Aewol-eup, Jeju, affected by the cold wave.
A Lotte Mart representative said, "Since it is sold at a price more than half cheaper than regular products, we hope customers can enjoy delicious and nutritious broccoli without burden," adding, "We will actively plan the Win-Win series in the future to help farmers and contribute to easing high prices."
